About Your HSHA Membership

You’ll receive periodic newsletters as well as occasional Hiker Alerts to keep you informed of current issues and events. Feel free to contact us if you’d like a sample copy of our newsletter. When you join, please be sure to include your email address if you’d like to receive occasional Action Alerts via email.

We respect our members’ privacy. We will not sell, trade, loan, or otherwise make your name, mailing address, email address, or any other personal information available to anyone. You can rest assured that our mailing list is completely confidential, and that we won’t badger you with solicitations.

Tax Deductions

The HSHA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Beginning January 1, 2007, you will need proof of donations in any amount if you want a tax deduction. We'll automatically send a letter for all donations unless you specify that you do not want a letter documenting your donation. For donations of equipment, you will need a letter from us for your tax files. We’ll provide the letter automatically upon receiving such donations.

Matching Donations

The HSHA encourages and accepts matching donations from employers. If your employer provides matching donations to non-profit organizations, feel free to provide our IRS Tax ID number: 94-3361931.
